Staff, pupils and trustees of Bedford Greenacre Independent (BGI) School joined together this month for the breaking ground ceremony of their new site off Manton Lane.

The move into their new building will be the culmination of the merger of Rushmoor School and St Andrew’s School which took place in 2021. The school currently operates across the sites of the two former schools and BGI principal, Ian Daniel, said the move would signal the “final piece of that merger”.

“The new site has 40 acres of land, which is a far cry from the two small urban sites that we are currently operating on,” said Mr Daniel.

“The co-educational school will provide a wonderful setting for our pupils, from Reception through to Sixth Form, to learn and enjoy their school life.

“The modern new premises are all about building for the future, providing our current and future pupils with the facilities and space they deserve and incorporating environmentally friendlier operations”.
