Blood Cancer Charity makes urgent call for donation registration.

Local blood cancer charity, DKMS Beds, are making an urgent appeal for people to register with the donor database with an open registration event on 25 January at Bedford Heights.

And DKMS are hoping more people from ethnic minority groups will join the register.

Every 20 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with the disease with only a third of donors found within the family.

Devastatingly, 4 in every 10 patients will never find a donor because possible matches aren’t on the register.

That is why DKMS are working hard to ensure that everyone in need is given the chance to receive a life changing donation.

Registration simply involves you taking two swabs from the mouth and handing them to a volunteer. Data kept on file for when you might match someone who needs a donation.

The event takes place at Bedford Heights, Brickhill Drive, Bedford on Friday 25 January between 8am – 10am and 12pm – 2pm.
