Last weekend, the return of The Country Fayre and Music Festival saw hundreds of revellers help raise over £7,500 for families needing Sue Ryder’s care.
The event was volunteer-led and included live music along with many other family-friendly activities and entertainment.
Fiona Benson from the Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice volunteer committee, who were behind the community event said: “We’re so grateful to everyone who pulled on their wellies and waterproofs to join us last the weekend.
“Despite the heavy rain, which meant we had to halt the fun earlier than we had planned, it was a fantastic event full of community spirit.”
She expressed her pride to be part of the “small but mighty” team of six volunteers involved in organising this event, emphasising how they “absolutely couldn’t have done it without the help of our local community, as well the entertainers, stall holders, and the generous businesses and individuals who donated to our fantastic raffle – a huge thank you to everyone involved.
“Our thanks also go out to the HM Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Susan Lousada who opened the event, and the Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice fundraising team who supported us.”
The Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice in Moggerhanger provides compassionate and expert palliative care and bereavement support, with the funds raised helping the charity to continue its important work within the community.
The volunteer committee also host regular curry and quiz nights, fashion shows and more to raise funds.
