The team at Eagle Travel are delighted to introduce their new ski specialist and travel associate, Debbie Inskip.
Managing director of Eagle Travel, Sue Alexander, says of the appointment, “We are delighted that Debbie has accepted our invitation to join us as a Travel Associate.
“She will be a very valued member of our award-winning team of travel professionals who have taken her under their wing.
“Debbie brings a wealth of knowledge due to her extensive travels and previous business experience, with a high level of expertise surrounding ski resorts in Europe and North America, and the varied resorts of the French Riviera.
“Although she has never worked in a travel agency in the traditional sense, Debbie is looking forward to giving her clients the benefit of her advice and knowledge as she embarks on her new venture with Eagle Travel.”
Debbie is a familiar face to many in the county having been High Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 2013/14 and since 2015 has been a Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, supporting the Lord-Lieutenant of the county, a role which includes greeting Heads of State when they arrive in the UK via Luton airport, attending citizenship ceremonies on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen and also seeking out members of the public who should be nominated for the Honours list.
She is also Chairman of the Bedford Hospital Charity & Friends, Vice President of the Bedfordshire Red Cross, President of Flitwick and Ampthill Sea Cadets, and a Trustee of the charities National Crimebeat and Bedfordshire Crimebeat.
In this month’s travel column, Debbie shares with us her passion for all things ski and some of her favourite destinations around the world – and the UK.
“I am over the moon to be part of the team at Eagle Travel,” said Debbie
“I was first lured to the slopes shortly after graduating from University. For me skiing combines the thrill of speed with fresh mountain air, incredible vistas and bright clean snow, whilst exploring an area using the best mode of transport – skis!
“I have been skiing for more than 30 years in resorts across Europe, Canada and North America. I have stayed in a variety of accommodations from gourmet catered chalets, self-catering apartments, small hotels and wonderful private chalets.
“A carefully thought-out and well-planned ski holiday can provide an excellent alternative to a beach holiday, where you can enjoy the outdoors with like-minded people, whether you are a group of friends, a solo traveller or a family. The “Après Ski” is pretty good too!
“My favourite ski area is the Trois Vallées – I have skied here countless times and the terrain is vast and varied. As most of the peaks are over 3,000 metres they are pretty ‘snow sure’ at either end of the season.
“I have also skied in Klosters, Zermatt, Chamonix, Courmayeur, St Anton and Verbier to name just a few resorts. Further afield Mont Tremblant in North Quebec is probably the coldest and windiest place I have ever skied.
“Aside from skiing, The French Riviera has long been a favourite destination of mine. It has a wonderful coastline with some great sailing, snorkelling, swimming and even people-watching opportunities.
“I first got to know the area when I was seeking out summer classical and jazz music festivals, which can be found in abundance during the warm summer months. Having travelled extensively when I owned my medical imaging business, I understand the needs of the business traveller too, whether for international conferences, smaller meetings or growing new markets.
“Even for conferences, I like to track down interesting places to stay away from regular corporate hotels. I have been aware of holiday planning from a young age when my parents used to let chalets around the North Wales coast, and to this day I enjoy introducing people to the delights of the Llŷn Peninsula.
“In my new role with Eagle Travel I am delighted to reveal that I will be investigating specialist wine and chateaux tours in France with my considerable contacts in the region, so I hope to be able to introduce this exciting new option later this year.
“I relish travelling hugely yet it is always a delight to return to Bedfordshire where commitments are both varied and enjoyable.”
With her many other commitments Debbie will not be in the office full time but anyone wishing to avail themselves of her expert advice and first-hand knowledge can easily reach her by email Deborah@eagletravel.co.uk or call her on her mobile which is 07768 357030 and, of course, she would be more than happy to arrange a convenient appointment to meet in the office.
