Bedfordians are being encouraged to nominate individuals and organisations who they think have gone above and beyond in their local communities, so they can attend a reception at Downing Street in their honour.
There will be several receptions organised, with each one aiming to say thank you to various people who have helped communities across the UK.
Nominations are for the following categories:
- Bringing communities together through Sport: Grassroots sports clubs and community organisations involved in getting more underrepresented and disadvantaged groups into sports
- Backing British food and drink: Local food/drink producers, agri-food businesses and independent distilleries
- Education: Teachers and/or teaching assistants from local schools
- Early years/childcare: Childcare providers and organisations that support early years provision
Conservative prospective parliamentary candidate for Bedford and Kempston, Pinder Chauhan, wants to make sure there are plenty of nominations for individuals and local groups, so they can then represent Bedford and Kempston at one of the Downing Street receptions.
“I am so pleased to be able to facilitate this opportunity to showcase the best of Bedford and Kempston,” said Pinder.
“I would encourage residents to nominate a fantastic individual or organisation who they think has had an impact on the local community.
“Often, their hard work goes unrecognised so this is your chance to show your appreciation for our town’s unsung heroes.”
Nominations can be submitted via Pinder’s website. Successful nominees will be contacted via email with further information.
The nominations will close at 12pm on the 3 January. Four receptions will be held in Downing Street in Jan, Feb, Mar and Apr.
