The Eagles made it thirteen unbeaten in the league with a big away win against a high-flying Hertford side, with goals from Ryan Blake and Carl Mensah securing the win for Lee Bircham’s side.
Bedford started the game very well and were on top of Hertford. Albie Hall had a good chance to take the lead for the Eagles, but his header went wide. Adam Watkins had a decent chance too, but his effort went wide as well.
The game got more cagey as the half went on but it was the Eagles who took the lead just before the break. Hamzat Balogun – on loan from Watford – saw his effort denied by the Hertford defence, but Ryan Blake was there to tap the rebound in for a 1-0 half time lead.
After the restart, the second half mainly consisted of the Eagles consolidating their lead and keeping strong all over the pitch. The Eagles almost doubled their lead after some great work from Ryan Blake meant Albie Hall had a brilliant chance to make it two but his effort went wide of the post.
Soon after this, it was 2-0 to the Eagles. A great corner was whipped in towards the box and Carl Mensah rose highest and bagged his first goal of the season.
The rest of the game was the Eagles seeing out the match and securing the three points, which they did. A great win for Lee Bircham’s side who remain top of the league with a game in hand with the postponed derby against Kempston Rovers to be rearranged.
