The London Marathon is just around the corner once again, taking place on Sunday 27 April and one Bedford teacher is taking on the 26.2 mile challenge in aid of a charity close to home.

Queens Park Community Organisation (QPCO) is a grassroots, Bedford-based charity focusing on welfare, recreation, and poverty relief. Its work includes supporting domestic abuse survivors, empowering youth, tackling isolation, and promoting community inclusion.

Bedford-based teacher, Marco Paganini will be among thousands taking on the world-famous course around the capital, hoping to make his peers and students at Castle Newnham School proud as he does so.

Marco is running to raise vital funds for QPCO, whose work tackles poverty, supports mental health, reduces social isolation, and strengthens community cohesion across Bedford.

The charity runs a range of services, from youth development programmes to advocacy for domestic abuse survivors, reaching individuals often overlooked by traditional systems.

“As a feminist, I support the domestic abuse programme that the charity runs, taking women out of abusive homes,” said Marco ahead of the main event.

“QPCO runs various programmes to support diverse communities. My wife and I are from different backgrounds; therefore we feel represented by their inclusivity efforts,” he added.

Marco, along with his friends and colleagues at Queens Park Community Organisation is now urging local residents to get behind his fundraising drive and support QPCO’s transformative services.

“Every penny raised will go directly to QPCO’s projects, helping change lives and build a stronger Bedford,” adds Marco.
