Just before Christmas, the choir from Brickhill Primary School entertained locals and residents at Oakhill Place Retirement Living Plus development on High View with a festive performance.

The pupils, aged 10 to 11 took centre stage to entertain the Oakhill Place residents and their guests, with a showcase of festive favourites and Christmas carols.

The event was part of McCarthy & Stone’s series of ‘At Home’ events, which took place at selected developments across the UK throughout December.

They were inspired by the tradition of friends and family gathering at home to celebrate the festive season. Everyone who attended also had the opportunity to take a tour of the development, meet with residents, and find out more about the retirement lifestyle on offer.

Julie Ward, national sales director for McCarthy and Stone, said, “Everyone who came along to the performance by Brickhill Primary School had a wonderful time, the children are all very talented and really got our Christmas off to a fantastic start!

“I’d like to thank the choir for coming along and helping us host a joyful event. It was a great opportunity for locals to see for themselves what a close-knit and supportive community we have here at Oakhill Place.”

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
