Bedford Repair Cafe returns, diverting more loved-but-lost items away from landfill

Bedford Repair Cafe
One happy visitor - and her mended hairdryer

Bedford Repair Cafe is back again and the volunteer repairers, fixers and techies are ready to fix your world…

Returning to the Tavistock Centre with an all star line up of fixers, the Repair Cafe ethos means you’ll learn how to get your bags buttoned, tyres turning, zips zapped, radios roaring and dolls dolled up.

At their last event, 33 items passed over the workbenches, diverting some 89kg of loved-but-lost items from landfill and back into Bedfordian hearts and homes.

The crafty team of fixers will be at Tavistock Community Centre between noon and 4.30pm on Saturday 22 February.

Booking is essential so the team can be ready for your repair – just go to

And if you don’t have anything to get fixed, feel free to come along for a nosey or a chat. Maybe you’d like to join our team!

Remember – all repairs are free, but a donation in the tip jar helps keep these volunteer-run events going.

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
