Bedford pharmacists complete Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Tibbs Dementia charity

A team of pharmacists from Bedford scaled over 5,000 feet during their Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Tibbs Dementia Foundation.

On Sunday 29 August 2021, the team from Bedfordshire pharmacy and health clinic, Smarta Healthcare, conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, and raised over £1,600 for the Tibbs Dementia Foundation.

The Bedford-based charity supports people living with dementia and their families, through a range of cognitively and physically stimulating activities, both on and offline.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the spectacular peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Challengers are given 12 hours to complete the 24-mile circuit, rewarded with breathtaking views and fuelled with Kendal Mint Cake.

CEO Harjinder Singh, alongside Pharmacy Superintendent Baljit Kaur, Pharmacy Dispenser Nirmal Kaur and Student Har-Saivak Singh completed the challenge in an impressive 11 hours and 14 minutes, to raise £1,644.39 for Tibbs Dementia Foundation.

Smarta Healthcare co-founder, Harjinder Singh, said: “It was an honour to be able to support such an inspiring organisation that enhances the lives of people living with dementia in our community.

“During the pandemic Tibbs adapted their support services to be able to reach those who needed it most, to make sure no one felt alone or isolated.

“The work the foundation does is nothing short of inspiring. The hike was a tough, but very rewarding, experience for us all. We were grateful for the good weather! ”

CEO of Tibbs Dementia Foundation, Sarah Russell thanked Smarta Healthcare for their fundraising: “A huge thank you to Team Smarta Healthcare for their mammoth effort climbing the Yorkshire Three Peaks for Tibbs Dementia Foundation.

“We support people affected by dementia to live as fully and as well as possible. All of the money raised will go towards helping to fund services and activities in the local area.
