Bedford parents reminded not to miss securing secondary school places

Bedford parents are being reminded to apply for their child’s secondary or upper school place by 31 October, for the best chance of getting a place at their preferred school.

Bedford Borough Council’s online admissions system is currently open to all parents and carers whose children are due to transfer to a secondary or upper school in September 2022.

These are children in year 6 at primary school or year 8 at a middle school.

The online admission system will close on Sunday 31 October 2021. Any application received after this will be considered late and will reduce the chance of a place at a preferred school.

Cllr James Valentine, Portfolio Holder for Education and Children’s Services said; “Applying for a school place can be both an exciting and nerve-racking time for parents, carers and their children but it’s a quick and easy process that can be done online in a matter of minutes.”

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
