Bedford man charged for allegedly ‘coughing at’ police officers

A man has appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court, charged with three counts of assaulting an emergency worker following an incident in Bedford.

Stevie Quigg, 29, of Martham Close, Bedford, has been charged in connection with an incident in which police officers were allegedly coughed at in Bedford on Sunday (5 April).

Quigg appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday), where he was released on bail.

He is next due to appear in court on 22 May.

This comes six days after a man who coughed on a Metropolitan Police officer, claiming to have coronavirus, was jailed for six months.
