A man in his 20s has been charged with drug offences after being arrested in Bedford as part of a week of action by Bedfordshire Police’s guns and gangs unit.
The arrest was made on Wednesday (30 April), after officers carried out a search and found 82 wraps of suspected cocaine.
He has been charged with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Week of action
The Bedford arrest formed part of a wider series of operations led by the Boson unit targeting drug supply and serious violence.
Earlier in the week, officers executed a warrant at a property in Luton, arresting four men and recovering an estimated £40,000 worth of suspected Class A and Class B drugs.
Police also seized multiple knives, e-bikes and a firearm during the raid.
The four men, one in his 40s, two in their 20s, and a 19-year-old, have been charged with 20 offences and remanded into custody.
Ongoing investigations
Boson officers also arrested three men in their 20s in connection with an investigation into shots being fired in Pastures Way, Luton, in December.
Detective Inspector Jon Wheeler said the activity reflects the unit’s continued focus on tackling serious and organised crime.
“The criminality we are tackling causes significant harm across our communities, fuelling violence, exploitation and fear, and we remain firmly committed to targeting those responsible,” he said.
“Our work is not only about pursuing offenders; it is also about safeguarding and supporting people who are being exploited, drawn into criminality or placed at risk for the gain of others.”
