It was another hugely successful weekend for Bedford Hockey Club’s 1st teams, with victories for the Men and the Women against University of Birmingham.

The men built on last week’s victory with a 3-1 triumph, moving them up the table to sixth, sitting alongside St Albans on points but just 1 goal down on goal difference.

They will be travelling away again next weekend to take on Loughborough Town, currently 3 points behind Bedford.

The Ladies’ 4-2 win – also over the University of Birmingham – gives them 3 consecutive victories and elevates them to second position on the table, just 3 points below Sutton Coldfield.

Next Saturday sees Bedford Hockey Club participate in The Hockey Paper’s #watchyour1s campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to promote club hockey, raising the profile of the game, boosting attendance at matches, invigorating the match day atmosphere and ultimately, encouraging participation.

The campaign opens with the Ladies’ 1st’s taking to the field at their Chester Road ground on Saturday at 1.30pm looking for yet another win against Broxbourne.

With the men having an away fixture; their #watchyour1s match will be played the following weekend, taking place on Sunday 7th November when they battle it out with Khalsa.

For the rest of the club, this weekend was a free week, with several teams keeping in shape with inter-club training matches, whilst a few previously postponed matches were able to be played.

The Men’s 4th XI pulled off a fantastic 3-0 victory against Vauxhall’s 1st team, with the Men’s 7th XI winning by the same scoreline against Rickmansworth.

There was however a 3-2 loss for the Men’s 6th against their West Hertfordshire counterparts.

The Ladies’ 3rd XI were also a big success story; playing a cup match against Market Harborough, coming away with a comprehensive 7-1 victory.

The Ladies 7th XI also hit seven as they came away with a 7-0 win against Harpdenden’s 3rd XI.
