Bedford College Group and Central Beds College have merged, creating the largest college group not serving a major city.
Bedford College group, which is made up of six colleges across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, including Bedford College, Bedford Sixth Form and nearby Shuttleworth, now includes campuses in Dunstable, Houghton Regis and Leighton Buzzard.
The merger officially took place yesterday (1 March), creating an organisation worth nearly £80 Million, and with up to 2,000 staff and 18,000 students.
“Our mission is to be an indispensable resource for the communities we serve across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire,” said Group CEO, Ian Pryce.
Central Beds College will now, like the rest of the Group, be an official University Centre. This means students can now also complete degrees in a wide range of subjects.
