Beales ‘closing down sale’ while administrators say it’s business as usual

Beales closing down sale

The Bedford branch of Beales is advertising its closing down sale, despite assurances from the administrator that the store will continue to trade while they seek to sell the business.

A week ago, it was announced that a buyer for the beleaguered group could not be found and the 23 stores would be placed into administration.

In a statement, KPMG told the Bedford Independent, “Per the original statement from the joint administrators, the Bedford branch of Beales will continue to trade in administration, while the joint administrators continue to explore the possibility of a sale of the business.

“However, if a sale of the business ultimately proves unsuccessful, the store will close. We cannot comment at this moment in time around potential timings, but we will of course keep you posted over the coming days and weeks with regards to any updates.”

Beales’ press office was not able to comment.
