Armed police swoop on vehicle after ‘gun sighting’ in Bedford

Police Line

Dramatic scenes unfolded on Barkers Lane, Bedford on Friday afternoon (17 May) after reports a gun had been sighted in a vehicle being driven through the area.

At around 4pm an armed police unit pulled over a vehicle not far from the Athletics Track. The police helicopter also hovered over the area to assist.

Upon searching the vehicle, an air rifle was recovered and a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of carrying an air weapon in a public place.

He has since been released without charge.
