Bedford’s annual comic-con (comic book convention) is returning to the Corn Exchange this September after a four year hiatus.

The internationally recognised NICE Comic-Con takes place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September and visitors will have the chance to meet some of the world’s best comic artists from publishers including Marvel, DC and 2000AD.

The event is organised by Jeff Chahal and he told the Bedford Indepdenent that it attracts visitors from all over the world.

“It’s one of the most respected shows in Europe,” said Jeff. “The guest list is comic book royalty and we have a good time!”

Among the 30 industry heavyweights that Jeff will be bringing to Bedord this year are Esad Ribic, Adi Granov, Alan Davis, Liam Sharp and Ben Oliver.

“Adi has worked on the first Iron Man movie as well as Thor and Black Panther,” said Jeff. “There’s also a Bedford connection, as he’s just collaborated on a tour poster for Don Broco.”

Jeff said he’s seen an increase in interest in comic art over the last few years.

“The box office success of films based on the Marvel and DC universes means lots of people are interested in owning artwork featuring their favourite characters. We look forward to introducing the creative forces that drive the global juggernauts that so many enjoy to a much wider audience.

“We feel it’s time the people that create the rich worlds that so many enjoy visiting get the recognition they so rightly deserve.

“We look forward to bringing some of the best creators from the world of comics to your door.”
