Dear editor,
The letter from Stagecoach states that less than 80 passengers a day use the 53 and that there is an 11 per cent drop in bus usage.

I think that Stagecoach needs to look at the accuracy of the figures.
We use the 53 very often at different times of the day, and it is often nearly full or standing room only.
We also use the 1, and the buses are often packed and standing room only. We have lived in Kempston since 1998, and the buses just get busier.
I also think it is disgusting that elderly and disabled people will be so isolated now. A lot of the people using the 53 look like they have limited mobility and could not walk all the way to the nearest bus route.
A lot may not be able to afford taxis and may not have anyone to drive them.
How would the management of Stagecoach feel if trapped and isolated, without transport? It’s disgraceful.
