Grassroots rugby union clubs in Bedford have been given the chance to revamp their facilities by winning £5,000 worth of building materials.
Current Prem leaders, Northampton Saints have once again teamed up with building suppliers, Travis Perkins to celebrate 25 years of collaboration by offering the opportunity for two community clubs to win the £5,000 prize, helping them make a lasting impact on their facilities.

In addition, the two winning clubs will be invited to send a junior side to a special training session at Franklin’s Gardens, led by the club’s community coaching team and three Northampton Saints first‑team players.
The competition is open to any club within Northampton Saints’ designated community region, covering Bedfordshire, along with Northamptonshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and north Essex.
“Travis Perkins has been – and remain – a fantastic and long-standing supporter of the Club and we are delighted to mark the 25th anniversary of our partnership with this brilliant competition”, said Saints’ Director of Commercial Partnerships, Ulundi Makhanya.
“We have dozens of grassroots clubs within our community region and I know every single one of them would love to win this prize, not only to create a lasting impact to their facilities, but also to provide one of their junior teams with the chance to train with three of our players and utilise the fantastic High Performance Centre”, he added.
Two such clubs who are eligible to enter are Sharnbrook and Colworth and Bedford Queens, who contested the Bedfordshire Merit table final last week, with Sharnbrook and Colworth coming out victorious in a 30-10 victory.
In a climate where community rugby clubs are facing a number of challenges, a £5,000 bonus may come in very handy indeed.
