A new event is taking place this Valentine’s Day (14 February) to bring people together to share and reuse, and celebrate the community spirit of London Road.

Love iLearn Bedford: Seed Swap and Community Treasure Sale combines a jumble sale with a plant and seed swap, encouraging sustainability, wellbeing, and neighbourly connection.

It takes place at the Methodist Church on London Road from 11am – 3pm and everyone is welcome.

“The Seed Swap element invites people to bring seeds, seedlings, or plants and take something new home to grow,” explained event organiser and iLearn chair, Ralley Rahman.

“This has generated significant momentum, with local gardening networks, community growers, and sustainability champions actively helping to promote the event and encourage participation.

“We are pleased to be joined by Green Shelter Society UK, whose work around biodiversity, ecosystems, and the physical and mental health benefits of green spaces strongly aligns with iLearn Bedford’s aims and values.”

“Share, reuse, grow and support one another”

Alongside this, the Community Treasure Sale is offering pre-loved books, toys, household items and hidden gems, all awaiting a new home.

“This event is about community love – bringing people together to share, reuse, grow, and support one another,” said Ralley.

“By combining a Community Treasure Sale with a Seed Swap, we’re creating something that’s affordable, sustainable, and rooted in wellbeing.

“It reflects what iLearn Bedford stands for: empowering women, uplifting families, and strengthening community connections.”
