Halal burger chain 5 Akhis has opened a new restaurant in Bedford, welcoming customers for the first time earlier this month (11 October).
The brand, founded in Milton Keynes in 2020, is known for its bold flavours and community-driven ethos. The name “Akhi” means “brother” in Arabic and symbolises the values of camaraderie and togetherness at the heart of the business.

Jay and Hussain manage the flagship 5 Akhis restaurants in Milton Keynes, while franchise operations director and co-owner Ravi Parmar oversees the brand’s expansion.
The Bedford branch is owned by two local doctors who were first drawn to the business as regular customers.
“5 Akhis has always been about more than just foo, it’s about creating a space where everyone feels part of something,” said Ravi.
“The owners of the Bedford store were customers who fell in love with the brand and wanted to bring it to their hometown. No corners were cut and the vision has come to life.”
Fun vibes
The Bedford restaurant has a refreshed, modern look compared to earlier 5 Akhis venues, designed to create what Ravi describes as “a fun, bright and vibrant environment moving with the times”.
“This is my tenth project within a year for the brand,” he added. “And I can confidently say it’s currently my favourite.”
The restaurant offers a menu of gourmet burgers and signature dishes that have made the brand popular across the region.
“Opening in Bedford is a huge moment for us, and we can’t wait to welcome the local community into the 5 Akhis family,” said Ravi. “Top must-try items from the menu include the El Pape, Juicy Lucy, Chicken Strip Remix, and Big Akhis, if you can handle it!”
5 Akhis can be found at 28 Castle Lane, Bedford MK40 3US.
