A local drinks company based in Sharnbrook has given the green light to a two-year sponsorship deal with internationally recognised drag racing circuit, Santa Pod Raceway.

Located in Podington over the Northamptonshire border, Santa Pod Raceway markets itself as ‘The Home of European Drag Racing’, and now the left lane at the venue will be named after Kestrel Beer, of the Brookfield Drinks company.

Kestrel Beer was bought out by CEO and Founder of Brookfield Drinks, Nigel McNally in 2012, and his company has been supporting Santa Pod for a number of years.

“We at Kestrel Beer are extremely excited to be continuing our partnership with Santa Pod Raceway as part of our ongoing investment in the Kestrel beer brand”, said McNally.

“Santa Pod is an iconic venue which has constructed the foundation for Kestrel to become a brand linked with the motorsport industry and a continuation of the sponsorship will play a pivotal part in our communications strategy.

“In addition to the sponsorship agreement, Kestrel have negotiated continuation of the Pourage rights for Kestrel beer as the only draught lager at Santa Pod.

“The beers have been received extremely well by visitors at Santa Pod. The results from the initial sponsorship and supply duration have been encouraging, so we are looking forward to continuing to build this relationship over the next few years and beyond.”

Land speed records for the Kestrel

Nigel and his son, Joel have also been setting some records.

Needless to say, they are both big car enthusiasts and last year, they came across a classic 1935 Riley Kestrel 9 in a disused barn; a classic car that had not been used in almost 60 years.

With the help of specialist fabricator, Jon Webster, the car was rebooted and transformed into a modern day speed machine, and now holds a grand total of seven official land speed class records, with a top speed of 175mph achieved at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire.

‘The Flying Kestrel’ now spends its time travelling as Kestrel Beer’s corporate mascot with a sleek new paint job and is a central attraction for Kestrel Beer’s marketing campaign.

Santa Pod’s Commercial Manager, Caroline Holden is also delighted at the continuing support from Kestrel Beer.

“We are delighted to announce the continuation of Kestrel Beer as our Left Lane Sponsor. This great tasting draught beer has proved extremely popular with Santa Pod‘s customers and has outsold all previous brands!

“Our Lane Sponsorship is one of the highest-profile programmes on offer and we look forward to continuing the relationship throughout 2024 and beyond.”
