A Bedford business has renewed its pledge to support the local charity that cared for their colleague in 2022.

Assure Consulting Ltd will fundraise for the palliative and bereavement support charity Sue Ryder throughout 2024, with several charity events over the next twelve months.

This year marks the second time the consulting company has chosen Sue Ryder as its charity of the year – having raised thousands of pounds in memory of a colleague who was cared for at Sue Ryder St Johns Hospice, Moggerhanger in 2022.

In 2023, the company donated just over £10,000 to local causes which included money raised through fundraising for their chosen charity Bedford Foodbank as well as vital funds given to causes close to their clients’ hearts.

The big-hearted employees plan to do several challenges throughout the year including entering a team in The Sue Ryder Bedford Dragon Boat Race at this year’s Bedford River Festival, a summer fundraiser and lacing up their trainers for Starlight Hike.

As part of their commitment, staff from Assure will also offer hands-on support to the hospice through volunteering in their gardens and at the charity’s events.

Lee Mason, Managing Director at Assure Consulting Ltd, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Sue Ryder again this year.

“It was clear from our staff vote that the charity is a popular choice for many and, of course, through everything we do we will be thinking of our valued colleague who was cared for by the team at the Moggerhanger Sue Ryder hospice.

“Assure Consulting has seen incredible growth in the team over the last two years and we hope that with a 57-strong team and more support, we can smash our fundraising target this year.”

Nick Burr, Senior Community Fundraiser at Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful to Assure Consulting Ltd for choosing Sue Ryder again this year.

“They have always given great support to our hospice, and they are fun to work with. The funds raised by Assure will make a huge difference in helping us to be there when it matters. There are so many opportunities for corporates to support Sue Ryder.”
