Once again Bedford’s Harpur Square will ring out to the sights, sounds and smells of the Polish culture, cuisine and community at this year’s Polish Heritage Day.
The event, run by the PBIC will take place on Sunday, 14 July 2024, from 11am to 5pm, at the Harpur Suite and Square and everyone’s welcome to join in the family-friendly fun.
Formerly known as the Polish British Integration Centre, as it primarily supported Polish people living in Bedford, it’s now known as PBIC as it has expanded to support migrant communities from all over the world.
Zofia Brady, project officer at PBIC said: “Polish Heritage Day gives attendees the opportunity to support many local Polish businesses, artists and organisations while celebrating our rich history and culture.”
This year is a celebration of Polish talent with a series of performances planned by local artists, including a performance by the award-winning singer, Katy Carr.
Katy is a British singer-songwriter, who lived in Poland for the first five years of her life and her music is known for reflecting Polish history.
She has released six albums and her music explores the Polish experience during WWII. Her style also reflects that era in European history.
The day will be full of activities, including a talent show showcase from John Paul II’s Polish School in Bedford.
Polish food and fun
Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in a free Polish-themed art workshops, provided by PBIC’s partners Art School Tsymbal, run by Sergey and Maria Tsymbal who recently fled the war in Ukraine.

Throughout the day you will be able to support local Polish businesses and get your hands on some traditional Polish food, which is the best way to immerse yourself in the Polish culture.

PBIC welcomes everyone to join them for this event, with free entry for all. “We hope that everyone enjoys celebrating our heritage with us – there’ll be something for everyone and we at PBIC are honoured to be hosting this event once again”, added Zofia.
