The brewing group behind Bedford’s Eagle Brewery has won a prestigious trade award following its multi-million-pound investment in the town.
Damm, the company behind Estrella Damm, secured the Eduardo Barrachina Golden Award 2026 from the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK.

The award recognises the Barcelona-based company’s expansion in the UK market, driven by a £70 million strategic investment to modernise the Eagle Brewery in Bedford.
Since acquiring the Bedford brewery in 2022, the company has significantly increased production capacity and created 300% more new jobs.
The upgrade also delivered environmental benefits to Bedford Borough, reducing transport emissions and introducing more efficient production processes.
In May, the group expanded its footprint further by acquiring the premium ale brand Old Speckled Hen from Greene King.
Spanish Ambassador
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce will present the accolade at a ceremony at the Spanish Ambassador’s Residence in London on 23 September 2026.
Juan Carlos Machuca, president of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in the UK, said the company’s investment in Bedford demonstrates a “long-term commitment not only to business growth but also to local communities”.
Demetrio Carceller Arce, executive chairman of Damm, will attend the London event to deliver a speech about the company’s growth trajectory.
Carceller Arce said the investment in Bedford reflects their “long-term commitment to growth, innovation and sustainability”.
The accolade arrives as the beverage group celebrates its 150th anniversary, with the UK now representing its largest market outside Spain.
