Today (Friday), a man has appeared in court, after being charged in connection with the robbery of a blind man in Bedford.

Chaman Pal, 42, of Shakespeare Road, Bedford, has been charged with robbery and two counts of theft, after an incident near a parade of shops in Greyfriars on Wednesday, 7 October.

Speaking after Pal’s arrest, yesterday, Detective Sergeant Simon Oldfield, from Bedfordshire Police’s Crime Investigation Team, said, “This was a terrible incident which left the victim shaken up.

“We won’t stand for the exploitation of vulnerable people in Bedfordshire and we will do everything we can to get justice for victims.”

Pal appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court this morning and was bailed ahead of a hearing on 16 November.
