13 people arrested in Cardington for drug offences

Arrest Police

180 officers from Bedfordshire Police and Bedford Borough Council have carried out a dawn raid of a travellers site near Cardington after receiving reports of criminal activity.

The raid yesterday morning (13 December) at the Willow Drift traveller site on Meadow Lane included support from the dog section, helicopter, firearms support units and officers on off-road bikes.

Nine men and four women were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

Superintendent Mark Upex, of the operation’s command team, said: “We have arrested 13 people and also recovered suspected stolen property. An investigation is now underway.

“We have a duty of care to the other residents, and to the wider local community, to ensure people can live safely, peacefully and lawfully.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bedfordshire Police on 101, use the online reporting centre or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
