The countdown to Christmas is in full swing, with plenty of events to get you in the festive spirit. Need some inspiration? Here you go…

Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Inspired by the original French fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast is coming to The Place Theatre this weekend, packed full of live music, comedy and energy.  A tale of love and adventure, this classic story examines morals, truth, friendship, bravery, fairness and forgiveness in the intimate surroundings of the Place. Friday 6.30pm, Saturday 2pm and 6.30pm, Sunday 2 pm (sold out) & 6.30pm

The Place Theatre beauty & the beastThroughout this month, take part in a Christmas winter wonderland trail at Bromham Mill. Suitable for families with young children, see a model village, Santa’s Roomn and the elves’ packing station, all made by the volunteers at Bromham Mill. There are festive treats at the cafe, a charity raffle, plus shop and gallery. Bromham Mill is dog friendly, so you can bring the whole family!


Head down to Riverside Square for a Christmas Carol evening ( 6 – 7pm) hosted by Toast & MDH Insurance. Snow, Christmas lights, professional brass band, choirs, sing-a-longs and festive hymns, all wrapped up in Christmas jumper. All welcome.

The number one tribute act to the mighty Kasabian – Kazabian, will be hitting Esquires tonight. They bear an uncanny resemblance to the real thing, recreating Kasabian’s explosive stage show with unerring accuracy. Regulars on the Fake Festivals tour, Kazabian have taken tributing to the next level!  Tickets: £10


Make a night of it….

Common People DJs will keep the party going at Esquires until 3am in the club room downstairs, just £2 entry with a Kazabian ticket, £5 without.  Expect 90s indie, Britpop, Madchester, baggy sounds and Big Beat.

It’s all go at Esquires tonight, with the Friday Night Blender’s Xmas party in Danny’s Bar. The Pride headline with reggae and rocksteady classics – what better way to kick start your Christmas.James & Liam Burke, The Reformers and Roll Your Own Records complete the bill. From 8pm (free entry)Friday Night BlenderHitting the Groove at the Third Place tonight from 8pm – midnight. Hosted by Virtuoso Foods, the Vegan Christmas Festival this Saturday will have a wide range of vegan food, drinks, cakes and treats, cosmetics and supplements, clothing and accessories plus great gifts. The festive, meat-free fun can be found at the John Bunyan Museum on Mill Street from 10am – 4pm

Bedford Vegan FestivalThe Marston Vale Community Railway’s Santa Special departs from Bedford station at 10:55, 12:55 and 14:55 on Saturday 15 December. The trains will have festive decorations, you can visit Santa on board in his Grotto and there will be face painters and balloon modellers to entertain passengers. Combine your journey with a visit to Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre for Festive Crafts (4 -11 olds, £2.50 per child. The venue will be completely transformed into a tropical paradise especially for the occasion. Expect palm trees, flamingos, loud shirts, rum, cocktails and of course Tropical Vibes for a Christmas shakedown that’s not to be missed. Be sure to put on your wildest n loudest shirt or skirt and join in the Christmas boogie shakedown. Tickets £5.
