15-time Guinness World Record holder, Alex Goulding is to host a group workout session with the help of Samson’s Academy Gym in aid of suicide awareness in the new year.
Following the success of similar events for World Mental Health Day in October, where a mass public workout was held in Riverside Square, Goulding aims to replicate the event in what is billed as the toughest time of the year for many in regards to their mental health.

The aim is to show you don’t always need an expensive gym or equipment to maintain or improve your physical health along with your mental health and wellbeing.
Samson’s Academy Gym in Elms Farm Industrial Estate will play host to the event, taking place on Sunday 7th January at 9.30am and is open for anyone to attend.

Goulding is acutely aware of the benefits of exercise when it comes to mental health, having taken part in a triathlon earlier this year with the London Marathon to come in April plus an ironman event a month later followed by the Spartan Ultra Marathon in France in July.
He has also continued his community work, visiting schools and colleges in the area as well as going back to his old university at Nottingham Trent where he received an Honorary Graduation for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Mental Health and Fitness’.
“Exercise can change lives”
Speaking to Bedford Independent, Alex has persuaded as many people to turn out to “beat the January blues”.
“We need to show how exercise can change and save lives,” said Alex.
“I’d like to get people from all walks of life in engaging in a positive workout, to help release the endorphins and give as many people feeling that positive feeling.”
The event is taking place on Sunday 7th January at 9:30am at Samson’s Academy Gym. You do not need to pre-book, just turn up!
