From pop to pomp – four days of magical music in Bedford Park

Over 20,000 music fans attended this year’s Bedford Park Concerts – and preparations for next year’s extravaganza are already well underway.

Over four days at the end of July, Bedford Park played host to some incredible acts with something for (almost) everyone.

In addition, the concert team supported local charity the Beds and Northants MS Therapy Centre, which raised a huge £8,000 over the concert weekend.

Simply Red and Lisa Stansfield kicked things off in style on Thursday 28 July, followed by dance music royalty on the decks at Mambo Ibiza on Friday.

The Modfather, Paul Weller – with support from Richard Hawley – headlined on Saturday night and the traditional Proms in the Park was a fitting and spectacular finale to the proceedings.

“It was a brilliant four days of live music,” said event promotor, Mark Harrison of LPH Concerts and Events.

“The weather was perfect, the audience was in fine form and the acts were superb. We’ve had some amazing feedback from those that attended and we wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that came and supported us.

“We were determined to put Bedford on the map for attracting some of the biggest musical talent in the world, to come and perform here in our much-loved town.

“Myself and my dedicated team are all from Bedford so the Bedford Park concert series is truly a special one for us. We are looking forward to coming back next year and hope to have some exciting acts to announce soon!”

Bedford Park Concerts announced at the Proms concert that the show would be back on Sunday 30 July 2023 and the tickets will be on sale on their website in two weeks’ time.

The preceding nights are still to be announced, but if 2022 is anything to go by, we are in for a treat!
