Bedford’s alternative drag and cabaret show is back with a bang and on the main stage at Bedford Esquires this month.
Extravaganza promises to be even bigger and better as they reveal another stellar cast of burlesque performers and drag artists on we move straight to the main stage at Esquires Friday 20 May.
The headline live performance comes from Delilah Bon (Lauren Tate- Hands off Gretel) featuring new solo material from the ground-breaking critically acclaimed 2021 album.
“We are very excited to bring Delilah back to Esquires flowing her sold out ‘Hands off Gretel’ show last year at the venue,” said event promoter, Chris White.
Delilah Bon began her venture into Punk-fuelled Hip Hop in the summer of 2020.
“I was touring with my punk band, and night after night I was hearing stories from young girls getting harassed in my crowds,” said Delilah.
“When I spoke out online I was met with resistance and it infuriated me. I had all of these words flowing out of me too fast to write down, I programmed a beat and started rapping for the first time; it was my motivation during a dark time.”
Coming from a punk rock background, Delilah fuses nu-metal guitar riffs and screaming vocals with Melodic Rap and trashy hip hop beats- she describes it as ‘Cardi B fronting Slipknot’.
The night is hosted by Bedford’s very own glamour ghoul, Ginger Snaps, performing her unique brand of punk rock drag with energy and defiance.
Also on the line up is Jada Love, a multi-talented otherworldly performer delivering sexy, dark and mysterious vibes whilst injecting comedy, lip sync and cheeky charm.
Miss Fortune is a gothic horror performance artist and professional dancer, she takes burlesque down its darkest paths. Miss Fortune will seduce you, enthral you, and shock you.
Max Legroom hails from Cambridge but spent much of his youth in Esquires and is excited to return and entertain us all with his singular brand of drag King performance.
And finally, Edgar Allen Hoe is Ginger Snaps’ drag offspring, making their Extravaganza debut. Bedford’s own drag king and avant-garde Monster, expect dark performance art with a punk edge.
