Life after Lockdown – Lucy James from Bedford Running Festival

Whilst we all take heed to social distancing measures we can’t help but imagine our first day without ‘lockdown’.

We’d love to hear your views on what you are missing most in the Borough?  Please complete this very quick survey so when we come out the other side, we can all celebrate these wonderful places.

Today it’s Lucy James who is part of Bedford Running Festival who sadly had to cancel their half marathon this month. However we are hoping to be at the September festival – a weekend to include 5k, 10k and a half marathon races plus the mini mile for the children.

Which restaurant will you go to first?
Pizzeria Santaniello without a doubt! Yes, pineapple does belong on a pizza so I will be going for a Hawaiian.

Where will you buy your first pint?
I don’t drink beer but I like the cocktails in Bears & Tales. I’ve been to several comedy and live-music nights there so I can’t wait for them to reopen.

Where will you buy your first coffee?
Vanilla Tree, Fays or Papillon! Don’t make me choose…

Which shop will you head to first and what will you buy?
In Bedford probably épanoui. I’m a big fan of their homeware and rarely leave the shop empty handed!

Where will you go on your first out of town trip?
Cambridge with my Mum. It’s one of our favourite places to shop, eat and relax.

Where will your first walk be?
I’ve been racking up the miles during lockdown so I’ll be ready to put my feet up! You will find me at the Swan Hotel’s Terrace Bar or the Embankment.

What’s the main thing you have missed?
I’ve really missed going to Towers gym – it’s like my second home. I’m also excited to see my friends again and enjoy everything Bedford has to offer!

First sporting or outdoor activity (to watch or participate in)?
I haven’t stopped running (you’ve probably seen me pounding the pavements or striding up cemetery hill), but I can’t wait to see our runners take part in the Bedford Running Festival this September. We’ve introduced a new town centre route for the Half Marathon as well as a 20 mile race so there’s lots to look forward to.

Three words to sum up Bedford;
Home sweet home!

Don’t forget to tell us what you are going to do after lockdown – the survey is very quick.

Stay safe everyone
