Life after Lockdown – Emma Garrett from Pavilion at the Park

Whilst we all take heed to social distancing measures we can’t help but imagine our first day without ‘lockdown’.

We’d love to hear your views on what you are missing most in the Borough?  Please complete this very quick survey so when we come out the other side, we can all celebrate these wonderful places.

We have also been talking to businesses, some have closed or adapted the way they operate, about what they are looking forward to.

Today it’s Emma Garrett, owner of Pavilion at the Park an award-winning licensed Park Café offering great food, coffee & cake found in the middle of Bedford Park,  currently shut due to lockdown.

Which restaurant will you go to first?
Pavilion at the Park – not only out of loyalty but also because I am already craving an Eggs Royale!! My Hollandaise isn’t a patch on my chef’s and it’s definitely the best in Bedford.

Where will you buy your first pint?
The Embankment, it’s my local. How lucky am I?

Where will you buy your first coffee?
Again, it has to be The Pavilion at the Park. My favourite coffee in town!

Which shop will you head to first and what will you buy?
Probably Oliver Bonas at King’s Cross to buy myself a little treat!!

Where will you go on your first out of town trip?
London – to be honest I don’t need to go further than St Pancras and Granary Square, I love it there.

Where will your first walk be?
Wrest Park – it’s our favourite family outing and great for playing Kick the Can. We do always seem to get told off though by the English Heritage chap in his golf buggy!!

What’s the main thing you have missed? e.g live music, pubs, eating out, cinema, exercise etc
Socialising with friends – it doesn’t matter where but just to physically be able to hug them and share a drink with them will be so special. I think we’ve all taken that for granted.

First sporting or outdoor activity (to watch or participate in)?
Tennis – and not just for the Pimm’s and strawberries. I’m gutted that Queens and Wimbledon have been cancelled, but I’ll get back on court as soon as I can!

Three words to sum up Bedford
Bedford is…. resilient, resourceful & remarkable

Don’t forget to tell us what you are going to do after lockdown – the survey is very quick.

Stay safe everyone
