Best of Bedford – Rosanna Heasman from The Store

As you may have already read, Bedford’s first dedicated refill shop, The Store, opened for business in St Cuthbert’s Arcade at the end of August.

Since moving here aged 18, owner Rosanna Heasman has fallen in love with Bedford and here she shares her best bits including where she found her tribe and why she loves a cuppa at the Embankment so much…

Name: Rosanna Heasman

Occupation: Owner of The Store in St Cuthbert’s Arcade

Born here or blow in? I was born in the ‘city of dreams’ Milton Keynes. I moved to Bedford when I was 18, eventually falling in love with this sweet town and have made it home.

Best thing about Bedford?  The river truly is beautiful. The flowers along it in particular are always on point.

Best place to get a coffee or cuppa?  Best coffee shop has to be Vanilla Tree. Great coffee and food. Bonus: you’ll have the best view of The Store from VT, so you can pop across when you’ve finished your coffee.  However, best cup of tea comes from The Embankment hotel, because it’s served with a small pot of smarties which always makes my day.

Best breakfast?  Best breakfast spot would be where I had my birthday breakfast, the d’Parys hotel. It’s the perfect place for special occasions. Or a freshly baked roll of cinnamon heaven from Fancy Bakery post Park Run on Saturday mornings. That is what dreams are made of.

The one place you’d recommend to visitors?  If you want something different, then the Panacea Museum is certainly interesting.  Otherwise, definitely a visit to Box End Water Park. Even if you’re not on the Aqua Park or wakeboarding, it’s a great place for a drink with a view and one of my fave spots to chill.

Ever read John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress?  I actually have, and I also toured the museum when I first moved. I love that piece of history for Bedford.

Bedford’s best boozer?  BEARS AND TALES! Tom is a magician when it comes to cocktails.

Best Bedfordian?  There’s too many to be able to answer this question!
