We grilled John about his ‘best of Bedford’, so read on to find out his favourite product from Lingers Butchers is, who is his ‘best Bedfordian’…
Name: John Charles Medhurst
Occupation: Managing Director of John Medhurst Family Jewellers of Bedford
Born here or blown in?: Born at 93 Foster Road, Rugby, Warwickshire.
Best thing about Bedford? That Bedford is more like a village than a town, everyone knows each other and it has a great sense of community.
Best place to get a coffee or cuppa? The Mill Yard Coffee Lounge, they also do great homemade cakes!
Best Breakfast: The Mill Yard Coffee Lounge is great. They use Lingers black pudding, which I love.
The one place you’d recommend to visitors: A stroll around the river any time of year.
Ever read John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s Progress? No.
Bedford’s best boozer? The Auction Room if I’m catching up with friends in town. At the weekend I enjoy a visit to The Horse & Jockey at Ravensden where the food and service from Darren & Sarah are excellent.
Best Bedfordian? Martin Bayfield, we could really do with him back in town as a Police Officer.
Ever eaten a Bedfordshire Clanger? Yes.
Three words that sum up Bedford: Diverse, determined & hopeful.
