Baking up a new social enterprise

bake is a social enterprise set up to help people in the Kempston community to gain the skills they need to get back into work.

Based at Project 229, the community project will give work experience to unemployed locals, taking referrals from various charities in Bedfordshire. “If you feel that your business would benefit from employing individuals we work with, then we’d love to hear from you,” said Beth Pestell of the bake team.

bake is open Monday to Friday and all food is prepared daily and handmade on the premises. “We will also be running regular craft and baking workshops and the space is available for children’s parties and private hire, so keep an eye out on our social media pages for upcoming events,” said Beth. “We look forward to getting to know everyone!”
