Suspended sentence and road order ban for Bedford man who sexually assaulted a child

A man has been banned from a Bedford road and given a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a child.

David Sells, 36, of Bath Abbey, Bedford pleaded guilty to assaulting a girl under 13 by touching on 25 October at Luton Crown Court.

He was then sentenced to prison for 20 weeks suspended for 18 months and had a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) placed on him for seven years, which prevents him from entering a road in Bedford.

He is also been ordered to:

  • complete 30 days rehabilitation requirement
  • complete alcohol treatment for 6 months
  • complete 60 hours of unpaid work

Which must be completed or he will be in breach of his suspended sentence and will be imprisoned for 20 weeks.

A restraining order has also been granted.
