Shop Local Bedford: Ladbrokes promises to improve its High Street shop front

Following a request from the Bedford Independent, Ladbrokes on Bedford High Street has confirmed it will improve the exterior of its premises, replacing its existing shop sign.

The Ladbrokes sign, home to a number of Bedford’s pigeon population, has recently sported a nest and discarded egg. The Bedford Independent has assurance from Ladbrokes’ head office that a new sign will be in place shortly.

No exact time scale for the clean up has been given but we will endeavour to encourage Ladbrokes, and other town centre businesses and landlords, to raise their game and make the best of their properties.

With online and out-of-town competition growing, it’s vitally important that town centres are inviting and attractive places, encouraging visitors to spend their time and money.

As part of our Shop Local Bedford campaign in association with Explore Bedford, we are dedicated to celebrating all the businesses that enhance our town centre.

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
