Get ready to wrap up warm and look to the skies, Bedford’s much-loved Fireworks Display and Funfair returns to Goldington Road next weekend (7 November), promising a night of colour, music and family fun.
Hosted by Bedford Blues, it is one of the highlights of the town’s autumn calendar. Families, friends and fireworks fans will be treated to two stunning displays, a buzzing funfair, great food and drink, and live entertainment that will keep the party going all evening.
All three entrances (the main turnstiles, the Burrow gate opposite Bushmead Avenue, and the hospital gate on Kimbolton Road) will open at 6pm. Arriving early is strongly advised so you can soak up the atmosphere, grab a hot drink and explore the fair before the fireworks begin.
The children’s display starts at 7pm, providing the perfect warm-up for little ones (and grown-ups too).
Then, at 8pm, it’s time for the main event. A spectacular show by fireworks specialists Firemagic, who promise to raise the bar once again with a dazzling mix of rockets, wheels and sparkling colour bursting above Goldington Road.
Food, drink and the best spots to watch
From sweet treats to savoury bites, there’s plenty to enjoy before and between the displays. Expect hot food stalls, a mobile bar, Deja Brew serving coffee and hot chocolate, and a candy truck packed with sugary favourites.
Chicken George will also be serving from the Burrow hatch for anyone who wants something extra tasty.
For drinks, visitors can choose between the CMC Marquee, Scrum Bar, Rebel Bar or Chalet Bar beside the M&J Group Stand.
Most people head to the back training pitch for the best view, but you’ll be able to see the fireworks from almost anywhere in the ground. A limited number of stand seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
VIP view in style
If you fancy making the night extra special, a few VIP packages are still available.
The Dovecote Park Suite offers a two-course meal and the best view in the house from a private gallery for £50 per person.
For £35, guests at The Burrow at the Blues can enjoy a Chicken George meal, a private bar, and a viewing area, the perfect way to enjoy the show in comfort.
Music, shoutouts and live rugby
The music flows throughout the night on the PA, and you can even request a song or a shout-out, whether it’s a birthday, family message or just a hello from your group, by emailing ryan@bedfordrugby.co.uk or messaging the club’s social media pages before 5pm on Thursday, 6 November.
Rugby fans won’t miss out either, with big screens showing London Scottish v Bedford Blues live from 7.45pm so that you can cheer on the team between fireworks and funfair rides.
Don’t miss it
Tickets are available online only, priced at £8.50 if bought in advance. Prices rise on the morning of the event, and there will be no gate sales, so organisers are urging everyone to book early.
