Riverside Tennis Club has been selected as the host for a summer charity event in aid of five charities chosen by the new High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Russell Beard.
Russell took over the title from Lady Clifford last month and has wasted no time in setting up charity events which begin with the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire Charity Tennis Tournament, taking place on 26th May.

Four of the five charities chosen are Bedford Hospital Charity and Friends, Bedfordshire Crimebeat, the Blues Foundation and Lord’s Taveners all charities close to Mr Beard’s heart.
The fifth is Riverside’s own Riverside Disability and Tennis Inclusion Programme.
The latter of the five is a charity that inspires everyone to play tennis.
Whatever someone’s ability, Riverside Tennis Club are one of the small number of clubs in the country that are part of the Open Court Disability Tennis Network.
It comes off the back of the highly successful ‘No Barriers’ programme at Riverside that championed inclusion in tennis.
The tennis competition is one of many sporting events in the pipeline, including a golf day at Aspley Guise Golf Club in June plus a number of other star-studded sporting fixtures that are yet to be announced.
The doubles tournament will start at 1.30pm on 26th May, with local companies encouraged to apply along with Bedfordians in a bumper competition that will finish with your traditional Pimms on the Lawn.
