Priory Primary School gets a special delivery

Children in a key worker 'bubble' at Priory Primary School demonstrate their new postbox

As we all start to adapt to new ways of working and communicating with people, Priory Primary School has found a unique way to connect with children learning at home.

The school has installed a special new red post box to their front gate. It enables pupils to deliver their homework and assignments easily at any time, without the need to enter the school site.

The box is the brainchild of Site Manager Wayne Berlin, who made it from 95% recycled materials, even down to the nails.

Head teacher Juliet Fraser said, “We are delighted with our excellent ‘post box’ and so are parents and pupils.

“These are challenging times and we are happy to do anything that makes the lives of our families a little bit easier.  The children are enjoying using it too.”

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
