Four local artists are hosting children’s printmaking workshops at the Higgins Bedford during May half term, inspired by the museum’s forthcoming exhibition.
Katie Allen, Paige Denham, Lisa Tilley, and Anne-Marie Abbate will run the Print It events from 27 to 30 May, taking inspiration from Edward Bawden Printmaker, the exhibition that opens on Saturday, 24 May.
Edward Bawden (1903 – 1989) was known as ‘the master of the linocut’ and on his death, he bequeathed around 3,000 of his works to the Higgins in Bedford.
The workshops will be a unique opportunity for children aged five to 12 years old to explore the world of Bawden, printmaking and creativity and make a masterpiece to take home.
Places must be booked in advance and cost £5.50 per child.
Alongside the workshops, families can explore the Edward Bawden Printmaker exhibition, which celebrates Bawden’s remarkable legacy as ‘The Master of the Linocut’ and offers visitors a chance to delve into his innovative techniques and artistic achievements.
