Opportunities popping up in Bedford’s Arcade

If you’ve visited the Arcade, connecting Bedford High Street and Harpur Street, over the last few months you can’t help but notice the amount of building and development work going on.

And while the work is completed, the landlords are looking for artists, makers, designers and small businesses to take advantage of some pop up space in the newly created units.

Whether you’d like to stage an exhibition, run a pop up shop, put on a performance or create a workshop space, they’d love to hear from you.

The redevelopment of the Arcade is in response to the Government’s changes to Business Rates. The newly created, smaller units are will fall under the £12,000 rateable value, meaning that business owners will be exempt from Business Rates.

“We want to fill the Arcade with a great selection of small, independent boutiques and businesses,” said Naomi Grant, of managing agents, Granby Martin. “By encouraging pop up activity throughout the festive period we can show potential tenants what it’s like to trade in the Arcade and create an exciting destination for customers looking for unique or bespoke Christmas gifts.”

If you are interested in having a pop up space in the Arcade, or would like to view one of the new units as potential tenant, Naomi would love to hear from you. Email naomi@granbymartin.com for more information.
