All things being well, the iconic series of Bedford Park Concerts are going ahead this summer, featuring one of the UK’s biggest pop stars, the chilled sounds of Ibiza and flag-waving Proms.
From 29 July to 1 August 2021, this will be Bedford Park’s 25th Proms event, making it one of the longest-running outdoor Proms in Britain
“We were always cautiously optimistic that these events, postponed from last summer, would be able to take place this July and the latest government roadmap gives us reassurance that we can deliver all three events safely this year,” said Bedford Park Concerts’ organiser, Mark Harrison.
“A combination of the vaccination programme and our concerts taking place outdoors with plenty of room for social distancing – whether that is required or not – provide us with the reassurance that we can put tickets on sale with a degree of confidence that we will not need to postpone or cancel due to the pandemic.”
This year’s festival al fresco live music will kick off on Thursday 29 July with pop sensation, Olly Murs, who shot to fame in 2009 and has since become one of the UK’s biggest pop stars.
Olly’s summer show will certainly put a smile back on the faces of concert goers as he performs his biggest hits, including tracks from this recently certified triple platinum album ‘Never Been Better’.
Hot on Olly’s heels, Café Mambo Ibiza, will get the Friday-night crowd dancing to the soundtrack of the Balearics included a star-studded line-up of DJs in an evening that will have everyone up on their feet.
“We know how much people have missed dancing and partying with friends and this is a perfect way to experience the party atmosphere,” said Mark.
The weekend will come to a crescendo on Sunday 1 August with tenor Wynne Evans – who now appears as himself alongside Gio Compario in the famous car insurance TV advertisements – and soprano Victoria Joyce headlining Proms in the Park.
They will be accompanied by the London Gala Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Bell and the evening will incorporate favourite classical arias and the fun of the Proms, concluding with traditional flag-waving, lasers and fireworks.
“We are looking forward to welcoming all our 2020 ticket holders, and thank them for bearing with us at this unusual time,” said Mark.
“To everyone who is keen to enjoy live music again this year we have great availability on all tickets, which are available from our website.”
“We also have a number of places available for our VIP experience, as well as our Green Room experiences, which are the ultimate way of spoiling a loved-one or celebrating a colleague.”
Even with most Covid-19 measures expected to have lifted by the summer, organisers are planning measures for managing visitors on site which will reduce queuing, including more time between the gates opening and the concerts starting to allow a steady ingress of the audience, and supplementary catering and toilet facilities.
