New guide for Bedfordshire carers launched today

Beds carers

A new Bedfordshire guide for carers launches today to mark Carers Rights Day (Thursday 21 November 2019).

‘Caring for Family & Friends’ is packed with details of local organisations and services that can help those who care for someone who can’t manage without them because of a disability, condition or long-term illness.

“Often these carers find it difficult to know where to turn for information and support,” said Lianne Bowskill of the mental health team at the Bedfordshire Clinical Commissional Group.

“They can struggle to take care of their own physical and mental health. This guide has everything in one place.”

You can pick up a copy of the Carers Guide from your GP or when you register with Carers in Bedfordshire.

You an also view it online here.

The guide is an example of working together for carers and is a joint project of Bedford Borough Council, Bedfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Carers in Bedfordshire, and Central Bedfordshire Council and East London Foundation Trust.

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
