Parliament is in summer recess, and that means I’ve been able to get out and about across Mid Bedfordshire more than usual. It’s a fantastic opportunity to listen to you about the issues that are affecting you.

And also to meet some fantastic community groups across our beautiful constituency.

All of this makes me a better local MP for our communities. I know trust in politicians is low, so earning your trust by being an open, accessible local MP is my priority.

And it’s been wonderful hosting my ‘Cuppa with Blake’ events in Cranfield, Woburn, Gravenhurst, Wixams and Woburn Sands with so many different people turning up to say hello.

I know not everybody can make these sessions so you can always drop me an email to book an appointment better suited to you, or keep an eye for future dates of drop-in sessions as I’m aiming to visit every part of Mid Beds to give you the opportunity to have your say.

I’ve also been hitting the streets in some of the glorious weather we’ve been enjoying to deliver my annual report letting you know what I’ve been up to since my election in July last year.

Community

It’s impossible to name every issue I’ve been working on in one leaflet, so you can also check out more updates on my website.

It’s also been fantastic meeting so many different community groups across Mid Beds – whether that’s been Maulden Bowls Club, where they were celebrating the birthday of 100-year-old Mary, who continues to play bowls to this day, or a boxing training session with two champion local boxers.

English Middleweight Champion Linus Udofia and Sam King, with seven international titles, spoke to me about the mental health benefits and important life teachings, such as discipline and resilience, that boxing provided to them as young people.

Linus is starting a boxing club for children and adults at the Rufus Centre in Flitwick so do check it out!

I want to get out and meet more of these amazing community groups in Mid Beds so we can showcase what a fantastic place our area is to live, work and play, so do get in touch if you have a group you’d like me to visit.

And finally, don’t forget to vote for your favourite local in my Mid Bedfordshire Pub of the Year competition by heading to blakestephenson.uk/pub-of-the-year-2025 before 5 September.
