The team at Bedford business Michael R Peters has expressed gratitude to family, friends and staff after raising over £600 for local charities at the Bedford River Festival 2026.
The funds raised during the event will benefit the Bedford Hospital Charity & Friends, Food etc – Bedford and Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice Moggerhanger.
The team at the store praised the community efforts. “Big thank you to those that gave donations, very kind of you,” said a spokesperson for the store.
“For all the people that played our hoop game, we hope you enjoy your prizes.”
The charities helped by the games have also expressed their gratitude.
Deborah Inskip, chair of Bedford Hospital Charity and Friends, told the Bedford Independent, “Huge thanks to Paul Mead and the fantastic team at Michael R Peters for supporting the community so consistently and generously.
“All three charities will benefit positively and in turn be able to continue with their work and support in important areas of the community.
“Our sincere thanks to you and everyone who came and had a go at your imaginative and fun game.”
Alongside the hoop game, the business ran a 10-second challenge that was said to be popular with visitors as well. The business mascot, Nettie, also posed for pictures with children and adults.
The top prize, a £200 voucher to spend in the store, was won by a festival attendee named Gafi.
