Mark Rutherford partners with Leonardo to support future engineers

Mark Rutherford and Leonardo

Bedford’s Mark Rutherford School is partnering with Leonardo, one of the largest employers of engineering apprentices and graduates in the UK, to support education and skills development in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Headteacher Mr Millard said “Leonardo is committed to maintaining a skilled and diverse workforce and recognises the need to expand the UK’s pool of engineering resources. As a school, we are focused on encouraging students into technology and engineering careers, actively supporting initiatives to encourage greater participation amongst young people in STEM curricula”.”

Sam Ashworth, Leonardo Campaign Support Manager said “Being a partner school will give Mark Rutherford students many more opportunities to gain an insight into engineering; this could include special lessons which focus on engineering, as well as assemblies and careers fairs”.

Now more than ever, we need your help to fund the Bedford Independent’s quality journalism that serves our community...

We choose to champion editorial independence, meaning we report the facts without bias and can stand up to those in power when we believe it’s needed.

We can give a voice to people in our community whose voices may otherwise not be heard. And we don’t have a paywall, so everyone can read the stories we publish for free.

But in this time of crisis, many news organisations all over the world are facing existential threat, with advertising revenues plummeting. We’re no different.

We work hard every day to bring you news, commentary, entertainment and announcements from across Bedford. We hope that, with your help, we’ll be able to continue this for many years to come.
