Bedfordshire Police have confirmed that a man who fell from the River Street car park building yesterday has died.

In a statement, they said, “We were called at approximately 10.50am yesterday (Monday) to a report of a concern for welfare in River Street Car Park in Bedford.

“Emergency services attended the scene and road closures were put in place between River Street, Horne Lane and Commercial Road.

“A man fell from the building and was pronounced dead at around 3.30pm.”

Police are not treating the death as suspicious, and the man’s next of kin has been informed and is being supported.

The surrounding roads were reopened at around 5pm.
